For Ralph Rajs, the senior vice president of operations and wellness for Leisure Sports, fitness is not just an avenue in which he makes a living. It’s also important to him personally.
“I do a lot of road races and triathlons,” said Rajs. “I’ve done five Iron Man triathlons, so it’s a big part of who I am and what I do. Being physically fit at a high level is really important to me.”
This has allowed Rajs to spend a lot of time within Leisure Sports’ clubs from a unique point of view. “I’ve been told I’m probably the only person who has swam a mile in every pool that we have, just to understand the swimmer experience in each of our properties,” he said.
As a triathlete himself, Rajs knows how important it is to have a support group of like-minded individuals working towards the same goal. That is why Leisure Sports created Team ClubSport, which offers runners, cyclists, swimmers and triathletes of all levels endurance event training in a fun and supportive environment.
Team ClubSport even has its own Facebook page that provides news events, and photos of runners, cyclists and swimmers. Through the page members can coordinate runs and motivate one another.
“Our whole mission is to help people change their lives, and Team ClubSport is one of those vehicles that does so dramatically,” said Rajs. “People who never thought they could do a sprint triathlon do one with our help. And for us to be able to help people do that is so powerful and so exciting, and it fits so much with who we are as a club company.”
