The Toluca Lake Tennis and Fitness Club has been voted the “Best Health and Fitness Club” in Los Angeles for the second year in a row by the LA Daily News Reader’s Choice Awards.
“We received this recognition over Equinox, 24 Hour Fitness, LA Fitness, Crunch Gyms, and the thousands of other clubs in the greater Los Angeles area,” said Adam James, the gym’s general manager.
The Toluca Lake Tennis and Fitness Club was founded in 1974, and early members included Bob Hope, Johnny Carson and Farrah Fawcett.
The facility is best known for its tennis program, overseen by Ben Brunkow, a nationally ranked doubles champion. It hosts tournaments, clinics and private lessons.
The club also boasts high-quality personal training, group exercise and an outdoor heated pool.
“I always like to say that Equinox in particular is our main competition,” added James. “They are an excellent club company with numerous clubs in LA now. I compare them to a Sheraton or Marriott hotel — beautiful facilities that are very well managed. We, on the other hand, are like the cool, swank, boutique hotel. There’s only one Toluca Lake Tennis and Fitness Club and our members are raving fans of our facilities, programs and people.”
