Getting your trainers certified in certain programs can be a substantial investment. Oftentimes in addition to the certification itself, there are licensing fees, and then the added cost of complementary equipment required to make a program succeed.
Not so with PLYOGA — after the certification has been acquired, there are no licensing fees and no equipment fees. Here, Mina Nevradakis, a PLYOGA trainer, explains why she pursued the certification and the benefits it brings to her clients.
CS: How were you introduced to PLYOGA, and why did you decide to partner with them?
MN: I was introduced to PLYOGA while at a local fitness event, where I became friendly with a fellow fitness professional, Kymberlee Haberman, who happens to be a PLYOGA Master Trainer. During our conversation, I was intrigued by the information she shared with me and decided to do a little research on PLYOGA myself. It didn’t take too long after my Google search and Youtube browsing to sign up for a workshop to become a certified PLYOGA trainer. As both a personal trainer and group fitness instructor for over 15 years, I knew this would be a valuable system to add to my toolbox of teaching.
PLYOGA is a unique and science-based, four-part interval system that incorporates accelerated yoga postures as an active recovery for more intense plyometric movement. Each class is designed by the trainer, using the PLYOGA formula, and incorporates the important elements of fitness: balance, strength, power, endurance and flexibility. PLYOGA is a smart and safe program that can accommodate and challenge everyone at the same time. The fitness novice can workout alongside the elite athlete, without feeling intimidated.
PLYOGA promotes a strong sense of self efficacy. Walk by any PLYOGA class in progress, which is very diverse in its participants, and you can hear everyone shouting the powerful mantra “Your Body Is Power.” It’s a contagious positive energy that you instinctively feel the need to join. It’s no mystery why people keep coming back for more.
Honestly, PLYOGA represents so much more than just a fitness format to sell to the masses. It’s a fitness movement. Everyone works at their own pace to challenge themselves within their fitness potential. They support each other’s accomplishments and progress. There is a strong sense of community with PLYOGA participants.
CS: What are the benefits to your business as a result of this partnership?
MN: Partnering with PLYOGA was one of the best decisions I have made. My training business has grown substantially with a less than minimal investment. After the initial certification fee, there are no mandatory monthly fees to pay out and no equipment needed. That’s a huge plus in my book. PLYOGA is something that I am able to take anywhere, at any time and deliver a safe and effective program with confidence and professionalism. I can tailor every class to accommodate every fitness level and age. What is even better is that PLYOGA allows me to showcase myself and add my own personal flavor to their program. I’ve actually improved my teaching and coaching skills and my growth in members is proof of that.
PLYOGA does not sell me choreography that I have to memorize and I don’t need to use a specific kind of music. That’s a huge financial and time-consuming burden off of my back. What PLYOGA does offer, if a trainer and facility wants, is the opportunity to increase their income by selling PLYOGA merchandise. I have to honestly say that when I run events or special classes, I will, at the minimum, triple my income for that day when I also offer PLYOGA merchandise.
CS: What are the benefits to your members as a result of this partnership?
MN: My members’ overall fitness levels have drastically improved, as a direct result of PLYOGA. Obviously, it is because they are participating in the most comprehensive fitness program. However, there is so much more to this than just the workout. Anyone who participates in PLYOGA is also being mentally challenged in a good way. Awareness is the first and foremost part of achieving any goal. The program is designed to nurture one’s physical and mental wellbeing. This is the mind-body connection at its finest. Members are very willing to share how PLYOGA has changed their life and it isn’t always about the number of push-ups accomplished. Members have experienced things like increased levels of confidence, better concentration, relief from back pain, increased muscles flexibility, daily tasks are much easier to perform, better sleep patterns and overall better relationships. The list goes on and on.
CS: Have you been pleasantly surprised by working with PLYOGA in any way?
MN: I have been both pleasantly surprised and thrilled to be with working with PLYOGA. As a member of the PLYOGA trainer team, I am in constant contact with the founders and their top leaders, who are hands on — not only to protect their brand, but to develop and maintain strong relationships with everyone who has partnered with PLYOGA. Stephanie Lauren, the creator, is always available to answer questions and to assist her trainers and facilities in developing successful PLYOGA programs. Christine Conti, PLYOGA’s U.S. chief master trainer, will literally hop on the next flight or drive for hours to assist and nurture the launching of the program. Operations manager Thomas Ascough is always ready, willing and able to help make your PLYOGA partnership a successful and profitable one.
CS: What else can you tell other club owners about the benefits of working with PLYOGA?
MN: All club owners should partner with PLYOGA. It’s a win-win situation any way you slice it. There are no licensing fees and no equipment fees. The program can accommodate all fitness levels, which will result in more total participants and increased memberships. The only thing needed is a team of certified PLYOGA trainers. Unless the facility is treating their trainers to their certification, I don’t see any expense in that either. In my opinion, everyone needs be part of the PLYOGA fitness movement.
