Blink Fitness announced it has officially entered the West Coast with the opening of three gyms in Los Angeles.
The first Los Angeles club — and Blink Fitness’ 60th location — will open on December 15, with the second and third locations opening in 2018.
“Blink is changing the conversation around fitness with our ‘Mood Above Muscle’ philosophy,” said Todd Magazine, the president of Blink Fitness, in a statement. “This approach resonates with a much broader audience of people because it showcases the immediate benefits of exercise. The physical benefits take time and patience, which is why so many people give up or never even start. We’re excited to finally bring this breakthrough concept to the West Coast.”
In 2011, Blink Fitness was created by Equinox as a way to bring a highly differentiated proposition to the high-volume, low-priced (HVLP) segment. The company established a foothold in New York, before adding additional locations in New Jersey, Philadelphia and now Los Angeles.
In October 2017, Patricia Perry, Blink Fitness’ vice president of franchise development, told Club Solutions that the key to the company’s growth is that they’re very intentional about it. “We’re very particular about our franchisees because we want to make sure the people we bring in are right for the system and are going to be set up for success,” she said. “So we’ve decided that we’re not rushing to grow, but we want to be really thoughtful and plan the way we’re growing the brand.”
According to Blink Fitness, the goal is to reach 300 gyms in the next five years through corporate-owned expansion and franchise growth.
