How to optimize Google My Business for your gym to gain visibility and leads.

Michelle McCauley, the president of PowerTen Marketing, emphasizes the strategic importance of using Google My Business (GMB), now known as Google Business Profile, for gyms and fitness centers. In her video, McCauley discusses how Google My Business can significantly enhance a gym’s visibility and attractiveness to potential members within a competitive fitness market. The tool is especially useful for highlighting specific amenities and classes that a gym offers.

Google My Business now allows the addition of detailed products and services, making it easier for gyms to stand out by directly showcasing their offerings like pools, basketball courts or specific classes like Pilates. McCauley guides viewers on optimizing these features by suggesting they start with identifying all the potential products and amenities their gym offers, such as classes, memberships, professional shops and smoothie bars.

She then outlines the steps to update a GMB profile: logging in at business.google.com, accessing the profile editor, and adding or updating products with descriptions, pricing and strong visual content. McCauley advises on using appropriate product categories and compelling images to catch potential members’ attention effectively. Moreover, she stresses the importance of authenticity in marketing, recommending that gyms should only promote genuine offerings rather than attempting to match all popular search trends. This approach, she notes, helps in building a trustworthy relationship with potential and existing members, ensuring they get a realistic preview of what to expect at the gym.

Stay ahead in the fitness industry with exclusive updates!
