Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) is letting members use their own Apple Watch to connect to its in-studio performance-tracking platform. The option, called OTconnect for Apple Watch, becomes available October 23 at participating U.S. studios, the company announced.
The integration is part of OTconnect, Orangetheory’s proprietary connected technology platform, which tracks performance in real time and delivers post-class results. Members pay a one-time $99 connection fee to pair their watch with the system. Once connected, they can start their workout on the Apple Watch before class and see heart rate, heart rate zones, calories burned and Splat Points on the wrist during the session. Afterward, they can review a performance summary in the Orangetheory app on the watch. More workout data and personalized insights are available through the OTF app and in a post-class email.
The feature works with newer Apple Watch models. It requires watchOS 11.6 or later and is compatible with Apple Watch Series 6 and newer, Apple Watch SE and newer, and Apple Watch Ultra and newer. Members who connect a watch also receive up to two free months of Apple Music and Apple Fitness+.
Orangetheory’s own performance monitor, OTconnect Beat, remains available in studios and online. According to the company, the two options give members more choice in how they connect to and track their data.
Stephanie Schon, the domestic brand president of OTF, tied the launch to the brand’s technology strategy. “Every enhancement we make to our technology comes back to one question: Does it help our members see results?” she said. “Allowing our members to connect their Apple Watch gives them another seamless way to stay connected to the data they care about that drives their progress, with a device they already wear and love, all while delivering the personalized experience that is core to Orangetheory”
The launch builds on other recent additions to Orangetheory’s connected experience, which combines coach-led classes, real-time OTconnect data and the OTF app with Apple Health integration. Those include Trends, a new section of the app that lets members view and explore progress over time across key workout metrics. Orangetheory says the feature is intended to make progress more visible beyond what members see in the mirror.
Orangetheory operates nearly 1,500 studios across 49 U.S. states and 19 countries. Members can find participating studios and learn more about OTconnect for Apple Watch at orangetheory.com or in the OTF app.
