David Barton Gym, an upscale gym chain known for its extravagant design and the tag line “Look Better Naked,” recently announced that David Barton, the founder and former president of David Barton Gym, has resigned from the company. His position will be taken over by Kevin Kavanaugh, who previously served as executive vice president in charge of company-wide operations.
“I am extremely pleased to welcome Kevin to a position he has earned through his many years at David Barton Gym,” said Howard Brodsky, the CEO of David Barton Gym, in a news release. “There is no one who knows the company more thoroughly than Kevin, who is respected more by our staff, or who has a stronger commitment to our organization.”
In the same release, Brodsky announced plans for David Barton Gym’s expansion into more cities nationwide, including Philadelphia and Boston. Currently, David Barton Gym can be found in New York City, Miami, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Barton opened the first David Barton Gym in Chelsea, New York, in 1991. The exact reason for Barton’s exit was not disclosed. Kavanaugh has worked for David Barton Gym for 14 years, starting out as a front desk employee in 1999, and working his way up.
“I am excited to work with Howard and our 600 loyal employees nationwide on our next phase of growth,” Kavanaugh said, in the news release. “David Barton built a great foundation for a very special gym experience. We will continue our core values and mission to provide the most beautiful, uniquely designed gyms anywhere, and continuing our focus on personal training, to ensure that members and guests always … ‘Look Better Naked!’”
