Attract New Members With Metabolic Testing

Without a doubt “metabolism” is the hottest topic in the fitness industry today. Everyone is concerned about theirs, convinced it holds the key to their fitness or weight loss goals.

Club owners are investing in metabolic testing systems to attract new clients by capturing their attention, improving their facilitys image, and providing unique value to each client. Pull your staff together and discuss the benefits of adding metabolic test services to your facility. Their input may uncover how this very small investment can yield very large returns.

Capitalize on current interest.
Metabolic testing is now easy to use and affordable enough for any fitness facility to own and operate. Its popularity is skyrocketing as people have access to valuable information. Lance Armstrong is an example of someone who has routinely used VO2 testing to monitor and improve his fitness level. When cyclists find out they have access to the same training tool as he uses, they jump at the chance to have it done.

Similarly, those concerned about their weight (which is most everybody, isn’t it?) have a lot of questions about their metabolism. And most are convinced theirs must be slow. So give someone a chance to actually measure their metabolism (their resting metabolic rate)…they will line up with checkbooks and credit cards in hand.

Elite image for your facility.
For years, metabolic testing has only been provided by hospitals, universities and professional training facilities. This high end evaluation has been available only to Olympic athletes, professional athletes or when prescribed by a specialized physician. Most clientele would consider it beyond their reach to access or afford.

Now facility owners can elevate the status of their facility to that of the most elite and exclusive for about the cost of a treadmill. And with some products, implementation is so easy that no additional staff will be required to operate metabolic tests. Metabolic testing will set a facility apart from the rest as potential clients are attracted by the unique service being offered.

Value to clients.
Understanding ones own body is vital to any fitness or weight loss program. Clients recognize that we are all different from each other. When you can customize a plan to an individual’s unique metabolic measurement, they receive a product that is uniquely valuable.

The prospective weight loss client is frequently someone who has “been around the block.” They have tried other diets before, and they are skeptical. Individualized metabolic testing offers them something that no one else in the marketplace can offer them, real answers based on their own unique bodies.

VO2 testing provides the competitive athlete valuable information to strategize increasing both their cardio strength and endurance. This information will increase the effectiveness of their workouts.

VO2 testing also provides great value to the deconditioned client. By determining their actual fitness level based on aerobic and anaerobic threshold, and peak VO2, trainers can design an exercise plan that will decrease injury and fatigue, yet maximize results. VO2 testing is the key to providing value to this group of potential members by keeping exercise comfortable while still producing results.

Here to stay.
Metabolic testing is here to stay. It is time tested technology that provides great value to both the facility and the clientele. The only question is…are you going to capitalize on its ability to attract new members? Or are you going to have to invest down the road when all your competitors set the standard?
