October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM)

This year, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) is celebrating its 25^th anniversary. The initiative has been on the front lines of promoting breast cancer awareness issues for 25 years, evolving along with the national dialogue of breast cancer.

Today, NBCAM has made many strides in breast cancer awareness and treatment, but much work still remains to be accomplished. The NBCAM initiative continues to focus on its mission of educating and empowering women to take charge of their own breast health by practicing regular self-breast exams to identify any changes, scheduling regular visits and annual mammograms with their healthcare provider, adhering to prescribed treatment, and knowing the facts about recurrence.
