If not properly maintained, a health club pool or spa can be a challenge. Here’s why: Members often plunge in after a workout without showering. Sweat, grime, bacteria and more can go with them putting a lot of stress on water clarity and sanitation. A 2011 survey conducted by the University of Michigan revealed that only about 1 in 4 people felt it was important to shower before entering a pool. Other studies have shown that of those who do shower, few lather up with soap.
