UFC GYM® announced it will open its first club overseas in Australia. A 32,000-square-foot club will be made available to Aussies in the city-suburb of Alexandria, south of Sydney, in April 2013. The club will feature the brand’s signature Group X classes, programs, and cardio and strength equipment.
According to UFC GYM, the club is unique, as it will feature solar-powered water and intelligent lighting systems, to make UFC GYM Sydney one of UFC GYM’s most advanced facilities to date.
“Australia has waited a long time for something like UFC GYM,” said Selena Short, a local partner and operator of UFC GYM Sydney. “The club’s unique programming and premier training helps people of all ages and fitness levels realize their goals and enjoy the community that the brand develops. This is a new fitness approach, it is built on innovation, honor, courage, respect and a lot of fun.”
The announcement comes in the wake of UFC GYM’s recent acquisition of the LA Boxing franchise, which added 81 clubs to UFC GYM’s club repertoire.
According to Brent Leffel, NEV’s president and the LA Boxing acquisition leader, UFC GYM was drawn to LA Boxing due to LA Boxing’s similar “DNA” of programs and classes. “The DNA of UFC GYM and LA Boxing is very similar,” said Leffel. “There really won’t be any changes made to the LA Boxing clubs, just enhancements.”
According to Leffel, UFC plans to have all LA Boxing club’s rebranded to UFC GYM by the end of 2013. “This is a transformational step for UFC GYM,” said Leffel. “We’re excited and we think this is a great opportunity to expand the brand nationally and internationally.”
