Merritt Athletic Clubs has broken ground on a new, multimillion-dollar facility in White Marsh, Md. The 45,000-square-foot club is being developed by Merritt Construction Services, the construction division of Merritt Athletic Clubs’ parent company, Merritt Properties.
Set to open in spring 2014, the club will feature a number of impressive amenities, such as a restaurant/café, saunas, cardio theatre room and a kids’ club boasting an interactive play maze and party room. Additionally, the club will feature a state-of-the-art outdoor aquatics center that includes an Olympic-style pool, family fun pool and kid pool.
“Our White Marsh location will be a showcase club,” Terry Dezzutti, the COO of Merritt Athletic Clubs, told Club Solutions. “After years of analyzing what works we are able to take the best features from our other nine locations and bring them into one club.”
According to Dezzutti, the new club will be a true “lifestyle center” for Merritt’s members. “We wanted to provide members with an experience, so we considered our members’ fitness journey as well as their need to relax, recreate and rejuvenate,” he said. “This is a true lifestyle center where we are sure to be the best part of our members’ day. I am really proud of my team; seamless execution and service to members is what drives excellence and enables growth. This will largely be reflected at our new White Marsh location.”
Merritt Athletic Clubs was voted the “Best Gym in Baltimore” by Baltimore Magazine in both 2012 and 2013.
