Jane Riddell, COO of GoodLife Fitness.Jane Riddell, the COO of GoodLife Fitness, has been named one of “2013 Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award Winners” by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN).

Co-presented by Scotiabank and KPMG, the awards commemorate the professional achievements of 100 women across Canada, in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. On December 4, 2013, over 1,100 attendees attended a gala that recognized award winners, including Riddell.

Riddell has been with GoodLife Fitness for 32 years. She has served in multiple roles with the company, growing alongside GoodLife Fitness as it grew from one location to over 300. In 2012, she represented the company on an episode of “Undercover Boss Canada.”

According to Riddell, being named a “Most Powerful Woman” was a humbling experience. “The event brought together an amazing group of women who have such influence, and to be included is an honor,” she said.

Winning the award has led Riddell to discovering the power of mentorship. “Over the past couple days I’ve seen how important it is for both men and women to have mentors in their careers,” she said. “Now, I think I’ll make a concentrated effort to make myself more available to employees I feel need support.”

The Women’s Executive Network was founded in 1997, and has honored 728 of Canada’s most powerful women.

“WXN is a great organization,” said Riddell. “Their goal is to inspire smart women to lead, and from I’ve seen, they’re doing a great job.”
