South Reno Athletic Club Maximizes Members Success Through VO2 Max Testing

H78A2274Members who join any health club are likely looking for one thing — results. To helps its members achieve the results they desire, South Reno Athletic Club in Reno, Nev. partnered with KORR Medical Technologies to bring VO2 Max Testing into the facility.

Through KORR’s CardioCoach, members can test the rate of oxygen consumed during exercise, calories burned, anaerobic threshold and more. According to KORR, this data can be used as the foundation for customized exercise programs that truly meet the needs of the individual.

Here, Gabriel Badley, the general manager of South Reno Athletic Club, explains why he chose KORR’s CardioCoach and its benefits so far.

CS: How were you introduced to KORR, and why did you decide to partner with them?

GB: I found KORR online while doing search for V02 max products. A little research made it clear that KORR was the leader in the industry. We spoke with KORR on several occasions, decided to visit them in Salt Lake, Utah, and spent the day learning about them, the product and ways to incorporate it into a fitness facility. KORR’s patience and support made it a pretty easy decision.

CS: Does KORR’s CardioCoach solve a challenge you had before the partnership?

GB: Absolutely. Specifically, it solved the issue of how to attract those who are not solely interested in a gym membership into the facility. KORR’s products provide us an opportunity to show how you can improve your results from exercising. As you know, 85 percent of people in the U.S. won’t join a gym. We thought, “How can we reach a portion of those 85 percent?” and CardioCoach proved to help. A local doctor even came in and loved the results. Now, he refers his clients who need help with nutrition or weight loss to us.

CS: What do your members think of CardioCoach, and how does it benefit them?

GB: Members love it. It both verifies what their doing is working and shows them an opportunity to improve. There is something about seeing your own personal results in black and white, versus guessing what is going on within your body. For example, we had a girl in her mid-20s come in who was overweight. She swore she had been sticking to her diet, but she just couldn’t lose weight. After doing the VO2 Max Testing, she discovered she had a thyroid problem and her metabolism was extremely low. This had been going on for years.

CS: What is the greatest benefit from working with KORR and using CardioCoach?

GB: Without KORR we would not have the proper marketing material, credible testing tools and training to do VO2 Max testing right. This is definitely one of those services you cannot afford to do incorrectly.

CS: What should other club operators know about KORR or CardioCoach and its benefits?

GB: KORR is the simplest, most affordable, credible way to incorporate a service that targets non-members into the facility and adds value and revenue for your existing members.
