Life Time announced the completion of its first destination in Des Moines, Iowa.
“It is our distinct honor to be a part of the greater Des Moines community, and we welcome the opportunity to serve the health, fitness and recreation goals and objectives of area residents and businesses,” said Jeff Zwiefel, Life Time’s COO, in a press release.
Founded in 1992 by Bahram Akradi, the first Life Time opened in Minnesota. Over 20 years later, Life Time Athletic Des Moines is the company’s 111th destination in the U.S. and Canada. This destination opened on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
The two-story, 166,000-square-foot lifestyle center will have an indoor and outdoor aquatic center featuring lap pools, whirlpools and waterslides, as well as two indoor basketball courts and an indoor tennis center. Members will have access to group fitness, indoor cycling, Pilates and yoga studios, along with hundreds of cardiovascular and resistance machines. Life Time certified personal trainers and nutrition coaches will serve members’ health and fitness needs.
To address the needs of families, Life Time Athletic Des Moines created Life Time Kids Academy, a membership program designed for kids from 3 months to 11 years old. Certified experts committed to childhood development lead the program, which is focused on helping children develop a passion for living a healthy, active life and provides a wide spectrum of activities and classes. The classes range from Karate, yoga, tumbling, Spanish immersion and arts and crafts.
“On behalf of our entire Life Time Athletic team, we’re thrilled to open our doors and deliver an incredible array of boutique-style, interest-driven programs that help our members and their families achieve success, all while participating in activities that align with their areas of passion,” continued Zwiefel in the release.
In April 2014, the company reported its financial results for the first quarter ending on March 31, 2014. According to the report, revenue grew 7.3 percent, net income was $28.3 million and diluted EPS was $0.69.
Currently, Lift Time’s stock price (LTM: NYSE) is $56.30.
