When it comes to offering your members a nutrition solution, streamlining the process may be the best option for health clubs big and small. This is exactly what Shannon Hudson, the founder of 9Round, has done for his members via 9Round Nutrition.
A web-based portal, 9Round Nutrition provides access to multitudes of nutrition resources, from meal plans and recipes to access to Dr. Rick Kattouf II, a nutrition expert. If members have a question, they need only submit the question online, and Dr. Kattouf will respond to them with a personalized answer.
Every member receives a 9Round Nutrition login. Once they visit the portal and register, they’re asked to fill out a variety of information including weight and height, to help generate their Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and meal plans based off their body type. About 50 percent of 9Round’s members are active in the nutrition portal.
According to Hudson, the portal is an easy and effective way to advise members on the nutrition side of fitness. “It takes the owner out of being a nutrition consultant, so they can focus on selling memberships and training clients,” he said. “Our entire business is about staying ahead of the curve and giving members the tools to see success.”
Without nutrition advice, Hudson believes members would have a hard time seeing that success and the results they crave. “We know nutrition is a huge part of getting the body you want,” he said. “You can’t outwork poor nutrition.”
Part of what makes 9Round Nutrition effective is that members have access to more than just one resource. In addition to meal plans, they can purchase supplements in-store and via the web portal, and have access to weekly e-mail tips, journals and quarterly live webinars hosted by Dr. Kattouf.
“We provide everyone with the tools they need to be successful,” said Hudson.
Offering a streamlined nutrition offering that’s both easy for members to use, and effective, can help health club businesses thrive. “When members see results they stay, pay and refer,” said Hudson. “To see that, you have to have a nutrition structure.”
