Gold’s Gym announced it has acquired eight of nine Aspen Athletic Clubs in the Midwest, including four in Kansas City, Kansas, two in Omaha, Nebraska and two in Lincoln, Nebraska.

As part of the deal, the eight clubs will be rebranded as Gold’s Gyms, which the company expects to take two to three months to complete. All current Aspen memberships will automatically transition to Gold’s Gym memberships and all existing membership agreements will be honored. The eight clubs attained through the acquisition will remain open throughout the conversion.

“We are thrilled to welcome these eight Aspen Athletic Clubs into the Gold’s Gym family, and are making the transition as seamless as possible for members,” said Aaron Watkins, the president of Gold’s Gym International, in a press release. “There will be no interruption to membership dues or changes to our hours of operations or amenities. We are also joining forces with Aspen associates to provide a higher level of service than ever before.”

Tony Dahmen founded Aspen Athletic Clubs 15 years ago.

“There is no fitness company with more credibility, knowledge or expertise than Gold’s Gym and I am so pleased to be able to offer the privileges of the Gold’s Gym membership to our members,” said Dahmen in a press release. “Gold’s Gym has a stellar management team and a like-minded philosophy of placing its members first. I expect that these gyms will continue to thrive and grow as a part of the Gold’s family.”

The acquisition marks a re-entry for Gold’s Gym into both the Omaha and Lincoln markets.

“When discussions surrounding the acquisition began, we knew it would be a natural fit,” continued Watkins. “Much like Aspen Athletic Clubs, Gold’s Gym is known for an incredible fitness experience and the first-rate customer service we are proud to provide to our members.”
