The women-only franchise EnVie Fitness is making a move to the U.S., and has chosen the Dallas-Forth Worth, Texas, area as its first area in which to focus its expansion efforts.
EnVie Fitness recently opened its first location in Mansfield, Texas, and plans to open 20 additional locations. The franchise currently has nine clubs in Australia, with seven open and two in development.
A membership at EnVie Fitness gives women access to cardio, strength, group fitness, personal training and online nutrition planning.
According to Gary Findley, the chief operating officer of EnVie Fitness and the former president of Curves, EnVie’s model gives women a more complete approach to health and fitness compared to other women’s-only fitness concepts. “My belief is that today’s woman is not the woman of the mid-90s,” said Findley. “They’re looking for more variety and I believe that’s what EnVie brings to the table.”
Findley explained that in addition to Dallas-Forth Worth, the franchise is shooting for nationwide expansion. “We’re going to be expanding everywhere,” he said. “Our goal is to have 500 stores in the next five years.”
Although the concept is new to the U.S., Findley believes the concept will succeed due to the franchise’s current success in Australia, in addition to other factors.
“We’ve been very successful with our locations in Australia and feel like the time is perfect for the U.S.,” he explained. “With any concept, it’s always about being at the right place at the right time and having a concept that fits a niche. Women still want their own women’s-only facilities, but they want more variety, and I believe we fit that.”
