Genesis Health Clubs has purchased both Max Fitness locations in Manhattan, Kansas, raising its operation number to 20 clubs throughout Kansas and Missouri.
“I am proud and excited to announce that the sale is official, and the quality of service and programs that have been a part of Max Fitness will continue and will thrive to a new level,” said Rodney Steven II, the owner of Genesis Health Clubs, in a press release. “We want to commend the high level of service that the [Max Fitness] staff has provided. We are looking forward to bringing our brand to the Manhattan community.”
Genesis is planning on building a new location from the ground up on a plot of land in Manhattan. The 65,000-square-foot health club will include indoor tennis courts, indoor pools and a basketball court with track.
“I have really wanted to expand into the Manhattan market for some time now and
finally found the perfect land to build,” Steven continued in the release. “In the meantime we were able to finalize the purchase of Max Fitness, allowing us to serve members in town while we build what will be one of our most beautiful clubs. We plan to break ground later this year and when it’s finished, we will close the west side location.”
In July 2014 Genesis Health Clubs purchased all three Maximus Fitness & Wellness clubs in Topeka, Kansas. Prior, in May 2014, it purchased both the north and south locations of Ozark Fitness Center in Springfield, Missouri.
