When investing in technology or a piece of equipment, it is important to ensure that it adds value to your facility. After all, why make an investment if you won’t see a return?
Nick Orlando, the manager of Gold’s Gym in East Northport, New York, explained how Polar’s heart rate training products have added value to his facility by increasing engagement and revenue.
CS: How were you introduced to Polar, and why did you decide to partner with them?
NO: Although we were familiar with Polar in the past, we decided to reach out to them after reading an article explaining the benefits that heart rate based training could have on our members and also for our business.
CS: What are the benefits to your business as a result of this partnership?
NO: We currently use Polar in our small group training studio. This has helped us increase memberships sold for this program by adding value to the program itself, as well as showing members that we are on the cutting-edge with the current fitness trends and technology. Being a retailer for Polar products such as the H7 and A360, which are used during our small group training sessions, also has increased our retail revenue.
CS: What are the benefits to your members as a result of this partnership?
NO: Member engagement has increased since introducing Polar to our small group training program. Sessions become more result-driven when there is a visual to base performance, since the member and trainer can both view active heart rate and calories burned during workouts. This makes it fun for the members as they strive to hit calorie goals as a group, or try to beat their friend at who can burn more calories during workouts. Members also use their Polar product during their regular cardio and strength sessions, which makes Polar products very versatile.
CS: Have you been surprised by working with Polar in any way?
NO: Our biggest surprise in working with Polar has been the on-going support they give. Whether it is new updates to software or training for our staff, they are always on top of making sure that things are running smoothly and we are getting the most out of the product, which we are.
CS: What else can you tell other club owners about the benefits of working with Polar?
NO: What I can say to other club owners who may be thinking about working with Polar is that it adds a great dynamic to the facility. Whether it be to a small group training program, indoor cycling room (which we will soon be introducing), or during one-on-one training sessions, the possibilities are endless, which is what makes Polar products so great. This can be beneficial for driving revenue to your business, as well as a retention tool for members to keep them engaged. I highly recommend incorporating Polar into your business somehow.
