In its latest acquisition, Genesis Health Clubs has purchased HealthRidge Fitness Center in Olathe, Kansas.
“This club is near and dear to our family and we would never turn it over to just anyone,” said Joe Sharbaugh, the former owner, in a press release. “Our members and staff have an excellent opportunity to go forward with some of the best operators in this industry. We will miss the daily interactions, but will now be there as active members.”
This is the 13th Kansas City area location for Genesis Health Clubs.
“HealthRidge is an extraordinary facility,” said Rodney Steven II, the owner of Genesis Health Clubs, in the press release. “It is absolutely massive and easily one of the largest, most successful clubs in the entire Midwest. Two swimming pools, an outdoor trail, racquetball, I could go on. It has everything.”
In 2016, Genesis saw substantial growth, doubling in size between April and June. Along with other clubs in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma, Genesis purchased nine additional clubs in the Kansas City area, and has established a major presence in the city since then.
“We are so excited to continue to grow in Kansas City, our largest market,” continued Steven. “With 13 locations in the greater metro area, we truly have something for everyone in Kansas City. We are a locally owned and operated business and we aren’t going anywhere. We plan on focusing heavily on this and all our Kansas City clubs to bring in the Genesis brand and give our members an unforgettable fitness experience.”
Genesis has 41 clubs in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Nebraska.
