FIBO USA: A 360-degree View Into the Industry at Large

This October, professionals from the fitness industry at large gathered in Florida for the FIBO USA conference, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

The event kicked off with the American Health + Fitness Forum, which was a highlight because of the rich content discussed from a global perspective. From Phillip Mills to Marjolijn Meijer to Beto Perez, pioneers in the fitness space shared case studies and best practices from South America, Europe, New Zealand and the U.S., and also explored the direction in which the industry is headed in the future.

According to event director Bob McFarland, the new activations and partnerships that joined FIBO USA in 2019 were also a huge success. “The U.S. launch of HYROX Fitness Competition, NPC Ultimate Grand Prix, Strongman Corporation, U.S. Ninja League, and USA Powerlifting brought together fitness professionals and consumers of all disciplines,” he said. “We believe this diverse representation will expand product and education categories that attendees will experience in future editions of FIBO USA.”

Because FIBO invites the entire health and fitness ecosystem to gather under one roof, professionals gain a 360-degree view into the industry at large. “They’re able to network, enhance their education, explore product launches, and also witness first-hand how the end-consumer responds to the trends, concepts and tools on display in the exhibit hall,” added McFarland. 

In terms of trends seen at this year’s event, McFarland said it was apparent that EMS (electro muscle stimulation) has made a strong entrance into the U.S. market, and that early adopters of the technology will be rewarded with an additional revenue source and leg up on the competition. “The same goes for operators who are incorporating whole-person wellness into their businesses,” he added. “To stand out in the current market, we must create community, interactive, mindfulness and healthy experiences for our customers.”
