IHRSA’s board of directors announced in a press release on August 19 that Joe Moore will be departing as the organization’s president and CEO, effective immediately.
Moore has been in the health and fitness industry for over 45 years. He served as Chairman of the IHRSA Board during the 2005 to 2006 fiscal year, prior to being named president and CEO. During his time at IHRSA, Moore had many accomplishments and played a prominent role in the industry.
Carrie Kepple, IHRSA’s acting Chairperson, said in a statement, “Given the pandemic’s impact on the entire industry, the board is assessing the mission and strategic direction of the association as it builds for the future. I want to thank our board members and staff for their dedication and hard work. We wish Joe all the best and thank him for all he has done and for his many years of distinguished service.”
Additionally, on August 12, Jason Reinhardt also announced he is resigning as the Chair of the IHRSA Board after serving in the role for 14 months.
The IHRSA board of directors will be forming a CEO search committee to find Moore’s replacement. An interim CEO will be named in a matter of days.
