Midtown Athletic Clubs sells Midtown Health to HealthFitness, a division of Trustmark, allowing it to focus exclusively on its club products.
On April 27, Chicago-based Midtown Athletic Clubs announced the sale of its affiliate company, Midtown Health, to HealthFitness — a Trustmark company and comprehensive well-being provider that builds and manages fitness and recreation, wellness and injury prevention and treatment programs for companies and organizations.
Midtown Health, a separate management division from Midtown Athletic Clubs, manages 25 on-site fitness centers spanning hospital wellness centers, community fitness centers and corporate fitness clubs.
As a part of the sale, all Midtown Health associates, including president Debra Siena, will join the HealthFitness team.
“We share HealthFitness’ commitment to our people and helping the clients we serve increase participation in their wellness programs and optimize their health,” said Siena, in a statement. “We are excited to join a like-minded and industry-leading company.”
According to Steven Schwartz, the CEO of Midtown Athletic Clubs, the sale was a good fit and will ultimately allow the company to focus exclusively on the growth of Midtown Athletic Clubs. He shared the Chicago flagship, which saw the brand launch its first boutique hotel, has been tremendously successful.
“HealthFitness is a great company that has great expertise in corporate wellness management,” said Schwartz. “It was a great fit, and now we can take those proceeds and put them into growing Midtown Athletic Clubs.”
Midtown Athletic Clubs began as a single tennis club and has since grown to eight clubs with locations in Chicago, Illinois; Rochester, New York; Weston, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; and Montreal, Canada.
