Football Fit, est. 2016
Football Fit’s roots began in 2016, when the first Cowboys Fit at The Star opened in Frisco, Texas. Ever since, the brand has become known for its unique offerings that draw inspiration from the training regimens of elite athletes. And, it has grown to 11 locations, with four additional planned.
Here, Kim Funk, the vice president of operations at Football Fit, discusses the brand’s keys to success, innovation through technology, top fitness trends and more.
Tell me about your gym and what makes it stand out from others. How would you describe the Football Fit brands?
Our premier fitness organization aims to provide members with the opportunity to train like the pros by offering the same state-of-the-art equipment and amenities used in the player’s training rooms. Football Fit clubs go above and beyond the everyday gym experience by housing all aspects of health and fitness in the same building, including a dynamic training staff, carefully curated boutique-style classes, recovery lounge, cafe, and the technology for members to gain an elevated advantage to obtain their fitness goals.
What do you think is your biggest differentiator when it comes to offering a great member experience?
Our recruiting process attracts top performers. We build strong relationships with our employees by engaging them from the first touch. Our talented team provides a member experience that makes it feel effortless to accomplish personal goals.
How have you, as an industry leader, adapted to change? How has investing in technology over the past two years helped you adapt to that change?
Adaptability is key to success. In March of 2020, some fitness clubs shut down without notice. We gave ourselves 24 hours to adapt to the new normal. Our digital platforms allowed us to stay engaged with our members while they were at home. This dedication to their health and wellness had them excited to see us in person when we reopened.
What is the leadership philosophy at Football Fit and why?
Invest in your team, recognize their talent and place them in a role where they will succeed. Your investment in people will net more than just a monetary return.
What’s a trend you’re seeing in the fitness industry that other operators should keep on their radar? What do you think the future of fitness looks like?
Fitness is taking an all-inclusive approach, establishing the importance of nutrition, flexibility training and recovery, in addition to strength and cardio based workouts.
Today’s trends are the future of fitness. Our industry should aim to educate members and provide a space for everyone, no matter their journey. All-inclusive health and wellness will deliver results for our members.
If you could give one piece of advice to other gym operators, what would it be?
Take time to know your team. Work in all areas of your clubs. Know your team member’s goals and help them achieve them.
