The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa Named the No. 1 Resort Hotel in Texas

The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa has been named the No. 1 Resort Hotel in Texas by Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards.

Every year Travel + Leisure readers get to weigh in on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines and more. According to the site, nearly 165,000 readers completed the 2023 survey, an increase of nearly 25% over pre-pandemic voting levels. A total of more than 685,000 votes were cast across over 8,500 unique properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).

Properties were classified as either resort hotel, city hotel, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities. Hotels were classified as either resort hotel, city hotel, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities, and they were specifically rated on the criteria below:

For each characteristic, respondents could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are averages of these responses.

The Houstonian, a 27-acre property, stood out for its “huge campus,” “fabulous spa,” and “outstanding service.” In September 2022, the facility completed a multi-phase renovation that brought $70 million worth of upgrades to the campus. The goal of renovation was to open the overall layout of the club and develop areas for socializing and connecting, as well as update the group exercise studios and other fitness spaces alongside operational areas such as childcare and food and beverage.
