Mary Thomas, owner and general manager of Western Racquet and Fitness Club in Green Bay, Wisconsin, welcomes viewers to a tour of the facility as they celebrate their 50th anniversary. The club spans 100,000 square feet and aims to provide spaces that enhance well-being and community.
The tour highlights the Strength Studio, a new addition converted from two racquetball courts, designed to support the growing demand for strength training and powerlifting. This area allows the personal training department to expand and offers members a specialized environment for their fitness routines.
Another featured space is RENEW, Western’s latest well-being destination. RENEW offers innovative treatments like sound and vibration frequency, PEMF treatments, cryotherapy and red light therapy. These modalities are intended to boost the immune system, accelerate recovery after workouts, and manage aches and pains, while also providing a tranquil space for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Mary emphasizes that these spaces cater to those who may not be ready for traditional workout environments, allowing them to begin their wellness journey in a comforting setting. Western Racquet and Fitness Club is dedicated to inclusivity and support, developing programs for individuals with specific needs, such as Rocksteady boxing for people with Parkinson’s and Game Changers for individuals battling eating disorders.
The club is also preparing to launch a new exercise oncology program in partnership with Smart Health Clubs and Maple Tree Cancer Alliance, aimed at supporting cancer survivors. This initiative underscores Western’s commitment to providing a nurturing and empowering environment for all members, especially those facing significant health challenges.
