On Monday, O2 Fitness’ members received an e-mail notifying them that O2 Fitness had launched a rewards program called O2 Rewards. Since Monday, 1,300 of O2 Fitness’ members have signed up for the rewards program, and begun racking up points.
The rewards program was created by Perkville, and has been integrated directly into O2 Fitness’ club management software, ClubReady. Created to reward members for using the club’s services, members earn points for checking into the gym, following O2 Fitness on Facebook and Twitter, signing up for personal training sessions, and more. Right off the bat, members earn 50 points, just for signing up for O2 Rewards.
Once members have earned enough points, they can redeem those points for a variety of items or services, such as $10 off any purchase at O2 Fitness Shop, gift cards or t-shirts. Additionally, O2 Fitness partnered with local businesses, such as Sun Tan City, so that members could earn rewards for items or services, outside the club. Some of the bigger rewards include free yearlong memberships to O2 Fitness (10,000 points), or massages (2,000 points).
“O2 Reward’s goal is to reward our members for successfully using the gym,” explained Shanna Kane, the director of marketing for 02 Fitness. “We really just want to encourage them to use the clubs more often.”
As a result, she believes this will help O2 Fitness with member retention. “It’s really going to help us retain our members, and keep them excited,” she said. “People love rewards programs. Who doesn’t?”
Another perk to the rewards program, said Kane, was how easy O2 Rewards was to implement. “Perkville makes it really easy,” she said. “They will work with your software company, and help you with anything you may need. It’s really easy for the members too — you go to the gym, work out, redeem points, and get cool stuff for free.”
Kane said she’s excited to see where O2 Rewards takes the club. “It has been really cool so far,” said Kane. “Our members are loving it! We’re getting so much love on Twitter, with lots of shout outs from members.”
