It’s hard to believe that the summer is already flashing by. In some states school has already started back and colleges are about to get back in session. This means a bunch of things: it’s almost football season, basketball season is right around the corner and your club has another chance to make some extra cash.

A lot of people will make new resolutions around the beginning of the school year. For many parents it can provide a little extra relaxation because the kids aren’t around 24 hours a day. However, aside from kick back, what can stay at home mom and dads do to fill up their time? One can only clean, cook and run errands to a certain extent before they go insane.

This is where you club needs to act, and act quickly. This window may only be open for a month at the most. As soon as these stay at home individuals find other ways to fill their time, they will soon establish a new routine that doesn’t include your health club.

Offer an extremely cheap membership rate, provided the individual uses the club in the morning between 8 a.m. and noon, or 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. This can do multiple things for you. It can help bring in a little extra income, and potentially get people into personal training and nutrition programs. Also, it will get people in your club throughout the day, when most people are at work.

There is also another side to this plan. America’s hard working teachers are back in the classroom sharing their knowledge with our youth. They work extremely hard and they need a way to relax and shed some frustration. How about you help them out?

Advertise a deal for teachers and educators in your community. Put together your deal then make contact with your city’s superintendent of education. You can use him or her to start a trickle down system that can reach the teachers in all schools. Explain that if the teacher brings some education identification they can receive a discount on membership, personal training and nutritional education.

Teachers are so valuable in your community. By helping them get in shape you are in turn helping them be better teachers. They will have more energy and be in better moods while in the classroom. So, if you see, you are in turn helping the youth of your community become educated citizens. It’s kind of a stretch, but you’ve got to start somewhere, why not start with people that give back every day?

This is a valuable time, and you are able to touch a lot lives that have a tendency to change this time of year. Bring these individuals into your club and you’ll increase your membership numbers substantially.

I couldn’t agree more! Most clubs are afraid to spend advertising dollars when they are not seeing sales up, and then they do not think it necessary when sales are good. However, every industry has hot times throughout the year when advertising should be on auto pilot and back to school is one of them for fitness clubs. We have custom solutions and ready to go solutions, just call 1-800-421-1684 and ask for me – Ed Collins – I am ready to help fill your gym with new members!
