In a move that underscores the evolving demands of today’s fitness consumers, New York Sports Club (NYSC) is expanding its partnership with HYROX, the global fitness race known for pushing boundaries in performance, endurance and mental fortitude. Following strong member engagement at NYSC’s Astoria location, the brand is rolling out HYROX Training Club classes and in-gym challenges — such as the Physical Fitness Test — across multiple locations this summer.

This expansion marks a shift in how fitness operators can reimagine group training. Unlike traditional bootcamp or HIIT models, HYROX fuses competition with community, offering a scalable training experience for both elite athletes and everyday exercisers.

“We’re thrilled to expand our HYROX affiliation and help more people discover how transformative HYROX-style training can be—not just for physical performance, but for mental toughness and social well-being,” said Kari Saitowitz, the chief marketing and creative officer of NYSC.

A Competitive Edge Through Functional Fitness

HYROX’s appeal lies in its unique blend of functional strength training, cardiovascular endurance and mental grit, all structured around a standardized, race-like format. The training model is results-driven, but also fosters a sense of purpose, resilience and belonging — key elements in member retention and engagement.

For health club professionals, the HYROX model presents a valuable opportunity to attract new audiences while differentiating programming in a competitive market. With the rise of hybrid athletes and performance-focused gymgoers, experiences like HYROX are redefining what it means to “train with intention.”

“Working with this team of fitness professionals to bring more opportunities to the New York Community of HYROX enthusiasts has been an absolute pleasure,” said Constantine Mouzakitis, the HYROX North East Regional Manager. “I can’t wait to watch the program grow across the entire family of NYSC locations.”

Empowering Trainers, Engaging Communities

Classes will be led by NYSC’s credentialed, experienced coaches, each bringing motivational energy and high-level instruction to help participants push past plateaus — whether they’re training for a HYROX race or simply seeking a challenge.

Importantly, the program is open to both members and non-members, a move that not only drives foot traffic but also introduces the NYSC brand to potential long-term members through experiential entry points.

What This Means for Fitness Operators

The success of HYROX at NYSC offers a clear lesson: today’s members are seeking experiences that are not only effective, but also emotionally engaging and socially immersive. For club leaders, it’s a signal to continuously innovate — blending traditional training with experiential, performance-based programs that elevate the member journey.

As the NYSC team puts the “new” back in New York Sports Club, their partnership with HYROX is a case study in how strategic programming can deliver value, retention and renewed energy across fitness communities.
