Freebies Keep Members Coming Back for More

Retention Tip 10/20/09 Web/BigRegardless of your club’s demographic, almost all members are happy to receive freebies. Every successful club has certain members who show up every day, and some who work out even more than once a day. Make an effort to show those members you support their dedication – anyone who works out that much deserves to know someone is taking notice!

Use the freebie idea to show hard working members you care. To reward them for working hard, create a log that chronicles the time members spend in your gym. If they reach a certain amount of days within a month, give them a free shake from your juice bar or a free t-shirt. You could also purchase step counters for your gym and have members sign up for a “Step Program.” Count their steps as they exercise and have rewards for different amounts of steps taken. Another idea is to host nutrition and health classes for members, giving those who regularly attend the classes a free personal training session. Members will likely strive to be more active in your club in an attempt to receive the coveted freebies.

By establishing a reward system for dedicated members, they are likely to spend more time in your club and may even brag to their friends about the recognition they receive! Chances are good that in a short amount of time you will see more members aiming to get freebies while getting in great shape at the same time.
