Perkville is a revolutionary service that empowers any local business to create a loyalty program in minutes. Recently, Retro Fitness became one of those businesses, partnering with Perkville to launch “Retro Rewards” in all of its franchise locations. Through Perkville and Retro Rewards, members have the opportunity to build loyalty, club participation and earn prizes as a result.
Matt Schultz, the VP of franchise operations for Retro Fitness, spoke with Club Solutions about why the franchise believed Perkville was a good fit for franchisees and members.
CS: What were some challenges you faced before you chose to work with Perkville to power Retro Rewards?
MS: We wanted to appreciate our members and help them achieve their fitness goals to continue our rapid growth in an increasingly competitive industry. We wanted to accomplish this without adding extra steps to our members use of our gyms or our franchisees’ staff.
CS: How did you come to the conclusion that Perkville would solve your challenges?
MS: After meeting other reward vendors, we felt Perkville had the best product and had resources to integrate the program into our franchise. Perkville was able to tie into our new Retro Fitness smart phone app (Perx Advantage) as well as our club management software (DataTrak) to provide a seamless, automated experience.
CS: Describe how you have implemented Retro Rewards in your clubs and what were you looking to accomplish?
MS: Through implementing Perkville we were hoping to increase consumer loyalty, decrease member attrition and stir up enthusiasm by offering new incentives. We were able to accomplish this by rewarding members when they check into the club, refer friends, purchase products or services inside our clubs, or even post to social media about us.
CS: How has the Retro Rewards program helped your members and your business?
MS: Through Retro Rewards we have added substantial value to our membership while differentiating ourselves from our competitors. Instead of the typical health club that only collects dues from members we were able to encourage behaviors that increase their fitness success and reward them for it. It’s a win-win for both our members and our franchise owners.
CS: What are the greatest benefits from using Perkville?
MS: The numbers speak for themselves. We already have 15,000 members that have joined the program in just six weeks. They have posted 1,000 Facebook comments and tweets about Retro, resulting in the best advertising, word of mouth from our members. In addition, we’ve already had 4,000-plus people recommended to our gyms through the Perkville referral program. It’s exciting to see that everyday members are working towards awesome incentives without any cumbersome extra steps and spreading the love about Retro as well.

Hi Pauline,
I would suggest reaching out to Retro Fitness directly for help. We have no affiliation with Retro Fitness.
