9Round announced its plan to open 15 additional gyms in the Indianapolis, Indiana, metro area. Currently, the franchise has two locations in the market.
“We definitely think that market and the surrounding area can hold 15 9Rounds and we’re very excited about that,” said Shannon Hudson, the founder of 9Round. “With the right operator, we think 9Round can go almost anywhere.”
9Round celebrated its 148th location on August 29, 2014. According to Hudson, additional exciting milestones are in the company’s future. “We’re growing quickly, and a couple [additional locations] will open next week, breaking the 150 mark.”
The 150th location will open in Laurel, Maryland, which is 9Round’s first Maryland location.
In addition, Hudson expressed interest in international growth for the fast-growing franchise. “We have our first club in Mexico and Canada opening this year, and I’m seeking Middle Eastern expansion as well,” he said. “We have good stuff in the pipeline. We’re hoping to be at 200 open stores by the end of this year and 1,000 by the end of 2017.”
9Round was founded in 2008 and takes its cues from boxing and kickboxing. Members go through a series of “rounds” or circuits that delivers total-body results in a quick 30-minute workout. 9Round is a part of Lift Brands, founded by CEO Peter Taunton.
