The Planet Fitness Midwest (PFMW) franchise group has been expanding its presence. Beginning in April 2014, the group opened its first St. Louis metro location in Overland, Missouri. The 29,000-square-foot club was the first of 10 St. Louis locations planned by the ownership group. Clubs in Wentzville, Missouri and St. Peters, Missouri are also slated to open January 2015.
In addition to expanding its presence in the St. Louis area, PFMW will be opening another club in two weeks in the Cincinnati area. The location will feature a two-story 28,000-square-foot club in the heart of Western Hills. In Kentucky the group will develop a site on Mall Road in Florence, Kentucky. The 29,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in 2015.
PMFW will also be opening five additional clubs in 2015, including its Midwest Flagship located in Lexington, Kentucky. The club will be the largest Planet Fitness in the region at approximately 30,000 square feet. Located on a three-acre pad, this facility will feature 120 pieces of cardio, spa, strength machines, tanning beds, massage chairs and more.
“We’re thrilled at the chance to open our second Planet Fitness in Lexington, Kentucky,” said Joss Gass, the regional manager of PFMW.
The Planet Fitness Flagship is the second of four two-story prototypes that PFMW is developing in the next 18 months.
Planet Fitness boasts 800 clubs and serves more than 5 million members nationwide. The franchise is the national brand partner of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.”
