Les Mills Group X: The Glue That Holds Gyms Together


Group X is often the glue that holds your gym together, allowing members to forge relationships with not only other members, but your instructors as well.

Jeff Na, the vice president of fitness for Gold’s Gym, shares how a partnership with Les Mills has led to Group X success.

CS: How were you introduced to Les Mills, and why did you decide to partner with them?

JN: I’ve worked with Les Mills for years with prior organizations. I took my first BodyPump class years ago and from that class I was sold on the program. One of the exciting aspects of joining the Gold’s Gym corporate team was their long-standing relationship with Les Mills. The Les Mills team provides an incredible format for club operators, while establishing a highly-engaged group fitness community.

CS: What are the benefits to your business as a result of this partnership?

JN: Providing high-quality programming that is incredibly engaging lends itself to our success in member retention, as well as incremental referral guest traffic, which we have seen with our Les Mills relationship.

CS: What are the benefits to your members as a result of this partnership?

JN: Results. Any of the Les Mills formats can provide a challenging workout, regardless of the member’s fitness level. Additionally, the members are able to expect a consistent group fitness experience if they travel through our network of Gold’s Gyms.

CS: Have you been pleasantly surprised by working with Les Mills in any way?

JN: Les Mills continues to impress us with their level of service and their high level of programming. Their attentive nature allows us to stay nimble through our 150+ locations. Additionally, there quarterly format releases are always exciting due to the attention they place into their programming.

CS: What else can you tell other club owners about the benefits of working with Les Mills?

JN: Working with Les Mills is more than just formats of programs, it’s an entire culture. The more an operator embraces and implements the culture, the more their group fitness programming will benefit from a relationship with Les Mills.
