Stay on top of your LinkedIn account. Connect with your target clientele on Twitter regularly. How many people are you engaging on Facebook? Instagram? You’re up on SnapChat, right? You’re not? With so many different platforms to social media, it can be overwhelming to keep up with all of them and still engage your target clientele in a meaningful manner. However, it is imperative to stay current on social media — so how do you do it? Meet them on their preferred platforms!
Be On Every Social Media Platform
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. You have to know your members, who you’re wanting to attract. By now you should have engaged with them on Facebook and Twitter at the very least, and LinkedIn with everyone who is on there. However, do you know what else your members are on? Best way to find out, is for you to be on those first!
For instance, are you on SnapChat? Though it is one of the newer social accounts, it’s still just as important. Why? Because according to VentureBeat, SnapChat has 100 million daily users. It’s the fourth most popular social media platform, coming in after Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Have a younger crowd? 52 percent of teens are using Instagram and 41 percent use Snapchat (Pew Research Center). Whichever social platform you are not yet on, you need to start utilizing it ASAP.
I’m Not Getting Traction On All Of Them Though…
You’ll notice that you’ll have conversations on some platforms more than others. And that’s okay! Maybe Facebook is hopping and Twitter isn’t getting as many replies, clicks or retweets. Keep going on all platforms, keep putting your brand out there. But now, you’ll need to maintain special focus on the ones that are generating activity. As mentioned above, after running your different social media accounts and keeping the broad range, you’ll see where your clientele are. You’ll see what platforms they prefer, which ones they’re on. Next step is to keep engaging them.
The bottom line for everything regarding social media and, ultimately — promoting your brand — is to stay relevant. If you do not get ahead and stay ahead of these things, someone else will. Not keeping up is what will get you eaten alive. Go where everyone is, and get there before your members. So if you’re not on Instagram, open an account. And if you’re not on Snapchat — Snap to it!
