Strength Starts at the Core

Recently, Escape Fitness partnered with Crunch Gyms to develop the new Body Rocket group fitness program using the Core Momentum Trainer. The CMT is a newer product for core training, using weight and sound to provide instant feedback to change the way athletes and fitness enthusiasts can strengthen their core.

The Core Momentum Trainer harness incorporates weighted, steel ball bearings that move inside a hollow power core to create both sound and motion forces that must be controlled with the user’s core. The sound of the weighted ball bearing moving inside the core helps users know when they need to work harder, with the goal of creating short, sharp sounds.

“We are always looking for things that are out of the box,” said Donna Cyrus, the senior vice president of programming at Crunch Fitness. “There are a million different pieces of equipment that could do the same thing, but the weighted movement that forces you to stay in the rhythm provides a much more controlled workout, so it is very effective.”

According to Cyrus, the Body Rocket with CMT classes are cardio and core-focused. The classes use four key Core Momentum Trainer exercises: launch, catch, throw and punch. Cyrus explained there are a wide variety of exercises that can be performed from lunges, to squats, twisting movements and many more.

“The sound really keeps you in place and drives the intensity of the movement,” explained Cyrus. “It is the weighted sound that you have to achieve in order to feel the full effect of the workout. It is a very fun workout. You can work a lot of different muscles and do a wide variety of exercises.”

The Body Rocket with CMT session were first introduced in New York clubs and has recently been extended to Crunch Gyms in Los Angeles and Miami.

the fitness industry has found huge success in modes of exercise that have gotten further and further away from truth and fact. So here is some truth and fact: because of confusing and basically incorrect fitness standards, its extremely challenging for gyms and fitness centers to engage in a conversation with the public about science and substance and what specific modes of exercise are better or not so good or even dangerous. Walk into any gym,you will most certainly be told of the benefits of core/functional training and the problems with machines and free weights. This is a terrible beginning to learning about exercise,is horribly wrong and i’d say even disgraceful.
it is an absolute scientific FACT,that RESISTANCE TRAINING,DONE PROPERLY,with slow and controlled full range of motion exercises,is FAR MORE beneficial for everyone in EVERY WAY,including activities of daily living. FYI: the maintenance of BONE/JOINT health and building of bone MASS are most effectively accomplished with strength training;most everything else is a waste of time.
If you are told otherwise, you can be absolutely sure you are listening to incompetence.

    thanks..
