Pokémon GO has officially taken over. And, Snap Fitness has jumped on board. The company recently launched a social media campaign encouraging members to take screen shots of Pokemon within their local Snap Fitness, to enter to win a prize.
Here, Steele Smiley, the chief developing officer/chief marketing officer of Lift Brands, which owns Snap Fitness, answered questions on the campaign.
CS: What inspired you to launch the Pokémon GO Snap social media challenge?
SS: We heard about how Pokémon GO was boosting business for many companies, so we wanted to capitalize on this opportunity and tie our brand to this explosive trend. Immediately noticing that many of our members were already finding Pokémon in our gyms, we decided making a challenge out of the game would be a fun way to get people inside our doors.
CS: What are the challenges parameters/rules?
SS: All submissions must be screenshots of Pokémon in or around a Snap Fitness club. We will accept photos directly outside of the building, as long as the Snap Fitness sign is in the shot. Participants then must share the image on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and include #PokemonGOSnap in the caption.
CS: What do you hope the challenge will achieve?
SS: We are constantly looking for creative ways to engage and connect with our Snap Fitness community online. Since people can search the hashtag on social media and see all the submissions, we hope they can connect with fellow gym-goers who share a love of Pokémon GO. We also know that aside from creating a sense of community, the challenge will encourage members to go to the gym and get a workout in while hunting Pokémon.
CS: What type of feedback or response have you received so far?
SS: We have been blown away by the response rate for this contest. We have received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback, and we are enjoying the frequency of posts and the creativity that people have displayed with this challenge. In the past five days, we’ve received over 900 submissions.
CS: What type of Pokemon have been caught?
SS: Spearow, Rattata, Drowzee, Oddish, Abra and many more.
CS: Is there anything else you’d like to add about the challenge?
SS: The winner will receive an exclusive collection of Snap Fitness branded workout gear and accessories. They will also receive a $100 gift card to either iTunes or Google Play, depending upon their mobile device. This $100 is enough to buy 14,500 Pokécoins.
