GoodLife Fitness recently announced the company will hire 600 new associates in clubs across Canada by the end of August 2017. In addition, the Canadian-owned and operated company will open 15 GoodLife Fitness clubs across the country. In November, GoodLife will also celebrate the grand opening of a new 60,000 square foot home office, in London, Ontario.
GoodLife Fitness, which was named one of Canada’s Top 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures and Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces in North America, is looking to hire a variety of positions in clubs across Canada. The positions include: Fitness advisors, to help new members find the membership option that aligns with their personal goals; knowledgeable and certified personal trainers; general managers; assistant general managers; fitness managers, club administrators, front desk motivators; and JUMP! child minding associates.
“It’s a very exciting time for us, as we look to grow the GoodLife Fitness family by 600 people over the next year,” said David ‘Patch’ Patchell-Evans, founder and CEO of GoodLife Fitness. Patchell-Evans was recognized as one of Canada’s most admired CEOs in 2015. “When I opened my first club in 1979, it was a small 2,000 square foot location in London and all I knew is that I wanted to care for people and help them experience the incredible benefits of exercise,” he added.
“Even as we’ve grown to become the fourth largest chain in the world, and largest in Canada, it’s still so important to us that the people joining our team are caring, knowledgeable and share our passion for helping others be the best version of themselves,” said Patchell-Evans.
GoodLife associates receive a number of substantial benefits when they join the company. On top of receiving a free GoodLife membership, they also receive a complimentary membership for their spouse as well as two discounted friends and family memberships.
There are also comprehensive group benefits for anyone working over 24 hours per week, and significant discounts to training and development through canfitpro, Canada’s largest fitness education organization. Additional benefits include access to the GoodLife Rewards Program where members and associates can take advantage of savings on products and services from more than 170 leading brands.
“I started with GoodLife over 20 years ago and it’s been incredible to watch our company grow while our culture remains the same as the day I joined the team,” said Alana Free, GoodLife Fitness vice president of people and culture. “Our entire company revolves around seven core values: caring, trust, integrity, passion, peak attitude, happiness and personal fitness. One of the best things about working for GoodLife is that because we are constantly growing and evolving to help our members, the growth potential for our associates is unlimited.”
GoodLife Fitness also puts a focus on recognition and rewards for associates. The company hosts a Top 500 Club Associate recognition event, length of service recognitions, incentive trips and numerous holiday and department social events. The biggest recognition event happens every year in August when GoodLife hosts their annual awards gala at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto. This past summer’s gala was hosted by television host and comedian Jessi Cruickshank, with a musical performance by rapper Kardinal Offishall.
