According to research conducted by the Pew Research Center in 2015, “Today, 68 percent of U.S. adults have a smartphone, up from 35 percent in 2011, and tablet computer ownership has edged up to 45 percent among adults.”
And, according to Statista, “Americans aged 18 and older spend more than 11 hours a day watching TV, listening to the radio or using smartphones and other electronic devices.”
Although technology can bring great benefits to our lives, sometimes it can also take those lives over — making it harder to unplug, unwind and relax.
This is a problem. Studies have shown that being “plugged in” to tech for extended periods of time can lead to burnout, creative blocks and increased anxiety.
That is why two years ago, Club Solutions launched an event called The Club Solutions Leadership Retreat. The second Leadership Retreat is currently in full swing in Austin, Texas at the Travaasa Austin Resort. Roughly 40 health club leaders from across the U.S. are gathered for networking, roundtables, fun and of course, the opportunity to unplug from their crazy connected, busy lives.
Be sure to follow Club Solutions on Facebook for updates on this year’s event. And, if you too are interested in getting the opportunity to unplug, while learning and having fun in the process, email carrie@peakemedia.com for information on future Club Solutions Leadership Retreats. Next year’s will be held at the beautiful La Cantera Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas.
Now I have to get back to be “unplugged.” See you next week!
