For this customer spotlight, Club Solutions sat down with Jennifer August, a Jabz Boxing franchisee in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania to share her experience. Since opening on April 20, 2019, August’s franchise is up to a membership count of 300-plus and growing following an initial investment of about $130,000.
Why did you decide to become a Jabz Boxing franchisee?
There’s huge growth potential in the fitness industry and especially with the Jabz concept, which is so unique and an instant favorite with women. I’ve been in the fitness world for years, so I wanted to do something I am passionate about while being my own boss. Plus, everyone on the corporate team is so energetic, positive and supportive. I knew instantly that joining the Jabz system was a good decision.
Why is Jabz a great franchising opportunity?
First and foremost, women love it. I’m able to help empower women on a daily basis. At my location, we’ve had revenues of over $20,000 in the first month, which is incredible and shows the momentum behind the brand and how much it resonates with women — even in a new market where our brand presence was very small. When we opened, we had 188 members, which is a record pre-opening membership number for Jabz. Now, we’ve surpassed over 300 active members and continue to grow. In addition to the membership numbers, 30 percent of revenue comes from apparel, gloves and supplements — meaning multiple revenue streams for my business. Overall, this is a great opportunity for those looking to get into the fitness segment. Finally, the low initial investment to start my own business was key.
What type of support do you receive?
Jabz Boxing does a great job of making its franchisees feel supported. Our founders Kim and Len support us through the entire process. Each franchisee completes a training program before opening at one of the corporate locations to ensure they are fully prepared and have the tools they need and feel set up for success. Now that I have opened my doors, I continue to get support on so many levels. This support ranges from business coaching to motivational support. I can’t say enough about the Jabz team.
Why else should other operators consider becoming a Jabz franchisee?
No one offers what we offer — a place for women to get a great boxing-style workout, that’s also fun and accommodating to all fitness levels and ages. The community our team creates is unmatched in the industry; Jabz becomes like family. And, it’s a great business. Why wouldn’t someone consider it?
