On May 18, The Houstonian Club in Houston, Texas, was able to open at a limited capacity. As clubs across the U.S. receive the all-clear to open, many operators who haven’t yet opened up their facilities are curious what to plan for.
Below, glean insights from Allie Clark, the club marketing manager for The Houstonian Club, on new precautions and procedures the club has implemented upon reopening.
Health Screenings
All members and employees have a health screening before entering the club. This includes a questionnaire and infrared temperature check.
Plexiglass Dividers
Plexiglass dividers have been installed all throughout the club for contactless service.
Floor Markers
We have added markers on the floor in waiting areas to encourage social distancing.
Fogging and Disinfectant
We have implemented a Bio-Safe system that fogs the high-traffic areas at the club. This is also available in spray bottles for members to use while working out. Every personal trainer has their own bottle they carry and use while training clients. This is also what staff is using to clean equipment, as shown in the photos.
Socially Distanced Equipment
We have rearranged parts of the fitness floor and marked off equipment based on social distancing guidelines.
Personal Training Pods
Half of the basketball court has been transformed into personal training pods for trainers and clients to utilize. Basketball lessons are available for individual and same-household lessons, currently.
Socially Distanced Group X
Group exercise classes are by reservation only and “social-distant stations” with equipment are set up before class. Equipment is cleaned before and after class. Our housekeeping staff also fog the room in between classes using Bio-Safe.
