The coronavirus pandemic has created a new expectation of cleanliness in all businesses, but especially in gyms. This means having a consistent, year-round disinfecting and cleaning schedule is no longer a suggestion, but a member expectation.

According to Stephen Steinberg, the founder of Vapor Fresh, a great way to ensure you are meeting your members’ expectations is by providing cleaning products specifically designed for gyms, fitness centers and health facilities. “Specifically, this means active ingredients that don’t come with health risks that are not compatible with a health club, surface compatibility with typical gym materials, etc.,” he said.

Vapor Fresh’s ingredients are what sets the brand apart from competitors. Vapor Fresh’s Disinfecting Gym Wipes use an innovative citric acid chemistry to disinfect 99.9% of germs without the use of harsh quaternary ammonium compounds found in nearly all other disinfecting wipes. They’re also listed on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “List N: Disinfectants for Coronavirus (COVID-19)” — and this is vital in today’s environment.

“Citric acid is an approved active ingredient on the EPA’s Safer Chemical Ingredients List and allows us to be in the lowest EPA toxicity categories to the point where we technically aren’t even required to have a warning label,” said Steinberg. “Our gym wipes are formulated to kill germs and not harm surfaces. Our internal testing shows that gym surfaces like plastics, foams and gym benches handle citric acid much better than higher pH quat disinfectants, meaning your equipment will look newer for longer.”

In addition to protecting their customer’s equipment, Vapor Fresh is also dedicated to protecting the planet. Steinberg said the company aims to be as sustainable as possible, and wants to be a driving force pushing the industry to be more eco-friendly.

“We believe that gyms shouldn’t have to choose between stronger cleaning products or greener cleaning products, so we design all Vapor Fresh products to be on par or better than older legacy brands with harsher ingredients in terms of cost,” explained Steinberg. “For example, our disinfecting gym wipes are much more affordable than other brands on a cost-per-wipe basis because we fit more wipes per roll, so it’s a much better value. And, even with a greener chemistry, Vapor Fresh’s wipes are still EPA registered to disinfect 99.9% of surfaces and on EPA List N for Coronavirus. It’s really a no-brainer for gym owners and managers, which is why we see so many gyms switching over.”

In addition to sustainability, Vapor Fresh has three other values they prioritize.

  1. Commitment to You. Vapor Fresh commits to continuously improving their products and introducing new ones in order to help the industry lead a cleaner, healthier life.
  2. Always Be Innovating. There’s always room to make even the best things better. Vapor Fresh is always gathering market feedback, improving on their products.
  3. Utmost Integrity. They’ll always rise above other brands that use shady business practices and dishonest marketing claims. Vapor Fresh wants to earn your trust the right way.

As we get closer to almost all gyms being back open across the U.S. at least in some capacity, cleanliness is going to be top of mind for everyone. While there are a plethora of cleaning product brands to choose from, consider what values and ingredients they offer.

“As people transition back to the gym, make sure your cleaning procedures are frequent and very visible,” said Steinberg. “This will put your members’ minds at ease as they try to settle back to normal. Also, important to keep our eye on other dangerous threats in gyms like MRSA that haven’t disappeared.”
