Our 2022 Franchise Forecast is a list of both established and up-and-coming franchise opportunities available in the industry.
There is an abundance of fitness franchises available to purchase, but what should you consider before investing?
According to John LaRosa, the co-founder and chief operating officer of PNW Club Venture Holdings and a Crunch franchisee, there are many factors to weigh before jumping in. Specifically, he recommended giving careful thought to the infrastructure of the franchise, the support you will receive, the field training protocol, the uniqueness of the brand, the brand’s image and the franchisor’s growth plans.
Additionally, ask around to find out if a franchisor mirrors your vision and your values. “Consider connecting with a few current franchise owners to get insight on the kind of support — or lack thereof — they can expect from the franchisor,” said LaRosa. “You want as much support and access to the support as needed. Communication is key.”
John LaRosa’s Questions to Ask
For experienced fitness operators, LaRosa said to ask yourself a series of key questions:
1. “Is there enough autonomy to maneuver your franchise to allow the flow of the operation to be a success?”
2. “Is it more of a burden because of all the approvals you must get or the hoops you must jump through in order to make the necessary game time adjustments?”
3. “Will you have enough support and communication from the franchisor to ensure you are on the right course?”
4. “What’s the developmental plan for the new investor and for his or her team?”
