Ohana Growth Partners opened a string of new clubs in 2024.
Celebrating its expansion in the Washington, D.C. market, Planet Fitness Partners hosted grand openings at its Takoma Park and Wheaton, Maryland. clubs on April 9.
These events featured ribbon-cutting ceremonies with the Montgomery County and Prince George’s County Chambers of Commerce and local elected officials, $1,000 check presentations to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, free giveaways and prizes, and free workouts.
Adding to the fun were special appearances by University of Maryland athletes and Testudo the mascot, Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals alumni, and Slapshot, the Capitals mascot.
“We’ve integrated Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) to enhance our grand opening events,” said Josh Gerber, the CMO of Planet Fitness franchise division, Ohana Growth Partners. “Standing at 7 feet tall, esteemed former NBA athlete, Gheorge Muresan, was a particular favorite with many attendees eager to capture moments with him in photos.”
Gerber added, “We look forward to continuing our relationships with NIL athletes as we build and open more Planet Fitness clubs throughout the country.”
Additionally, the group celebrated grand openings in the Washington State market in Lake Stevens and Monroe.
These events featured ribbon-cutting ceremonies with the Greater Lake Stevens and Monroe Chambers of Commerce and local elected officials, $1,000 check presentations to the Lake Stevens and Monroe Boys and Girls Clubs, virtual remotes with MOViN 92.5, and more.
University of Washington Huskies gymnasts, Emily Innes and Gabi Wickman, showed off their skills in the 30-minute circuit and entertained with backflips. Huskies football athlete, Ulumoo Ale and mascot, Harry the Husky, also mingled with members and staff.
