For years, Fit Athletic Mission Beach in San Diego had a problem many coastal gyms can relate to — salt air destroying outdoor fitness equipment. Just 100 yards from the ocean, their beautiful rooftop deck offered unbeatable views, but any gear placed there would quickly rust or break down, often within six months to a year.
General Manager Parker Washington knew they needed a long-term solution. After researching options and connecting with BeaverFit, he found exactly what he was looking for: durable outdoor gym equipment that’s galvanized, powder-coated equipment designed to withstand harsh outdoor environments.
In May, Fit Athletic Mission Beach installed the BeaverFit Shred Shed 3.0 — becoming the first facility in the country to have it. The setup not only provides members with functional workout equipment like heavy bags, squat racks, pull-up bars, etc. but also solves storage challenges by housing kettlebells and other gear inside the Shred Shed.
Members have responded positively, appreciating both the functionality and the durability. “I think we found a solution now that’ll be there for the long run,” said Washington. “We’re hoping to get 10 to 20 years out of these pieces.”
From an operator perspective, the process was seamless. Washington praised his sales rep, Brett, for being straightforward and easy to work with, and credited Jesse from BeaverFit for ensuring a smooth installation — even when it involved craning the equipment 100 yards onto the rooftop.
Washington’s advice for other club operators considering BeaverFit? “Do it. If you’re looking to build an outdoor gym, I don’t think you’re going to find equipment more durable.”
For Fit Athletic Mission Beach, the BeaverFit partnership has meant more than new equipment — it’s created a sustainable, functional space that members love, and one that will stand the test of time.
