On July 31, 2013, GoodLife Fitness, a Canadian health club chain, announced that it has launched a mobile app for its members, which can now be downloaded on the iTunes App Store. The app allows users to add fitness class schedules to their personal schedules, share free passes, receive notifications about important club announcements and more.
“We wanted to provide a way for our members to find club locations and classes more easily,” explained Justin Cipparone, the digital marketing manager for GoodLife Fitness. “It gives our members another way to interact with us that’s more convenient for them.”
GoodLife worked with Blackoptek Digital, a performance-based digital agency, to develop the app. “We did a review of six or seven different companies in the Toronto area and in the states (U.S.), and ultimately, they had the best proposal,” explained Cipparone.
Features of the GoodLife Fitness app include:
- Location Finder: Users can find the closest club using the phone’s GPS.
- Club Information: Find location information, such as hours of operation and review the full list of available club amenities.
- Favorites: Create a profile and choose a home club.
- Class Schedules: Add group exercise classes to your calendar and schedule reminders.
- Activity Tracking: Keep track of activities and schedule workouts.
- Health and Fitness Content: Check out helpful videos and health and fitness content pulled right from the GoodLife blog.
- Non-Members: Get access to a free 3-Visit Pass to any of GoodLife’s 300+ locations.
So far, the app has received over 500 downloads. Cipparone is expecting more after the company begins aggressively marketing the app this week through social media, in-club posters and flyers, and through word of mouth.
According to Cipparone, GoodLife Fitness plans to develop an app that is Android compatible in 2014.
