7 Unique Ways to Earn More in 2020

Looking to earn more in 2020? Following are simple revenue generating options to consider implementing, if your club management software partner has provided them for your business.

1. Consider corporate programming for neighboring businesses.

It’s a great way to market the facility by offering personal training or group classes to companies in the area. This could be a 30-minute Pilates or light exercise class, something to get employees started, and that they can do together with a buddy.  Extend out to local churches, social groups or even golf leagues.

2. Market to companies or groups with “hidden” online joining offers.

Check your club management software to see if it allows the capability to create offers with online URLs, which will allow you to embed them on Facebook or Twitter posts and within email blasts. This will let employers or groups communicate to their participants with an easy access way to join online, with an offer that is not viewable to the general public.

3. Annual fee.

It’s practically a standard now in the industry: A once-a-year fee to help offset repairs, equipment being replaced, deep cleaning, funding to put back into programming, etc. The ideal time to do it is 90 days after the initial join and then each year subsequently. This could also be marketed as a “Rate Guarantee” fee to lock in a member’s current monthly fee.

4. Get automated.

Make sure the club management software allows the option to auto generate key performance reports right to your inbox, such as daily POS posting, deposit reconciliation reports, month-end closing, reminder and birthday email notifications. Billing returns should automatically update member records and be combined with a robust account updater program to capture the latest card information. Be sure to work with a certified ISO merchant provider for the best, most competitive, interchange plus processing rates.

5. Allow (and promote) house accounts.

There’s more than one way to benefit here. This can be done with prepaid funds, similar to a gift card, right on the member account. It’s especially beneficial for sites that offer beverages, cooler drinks or a juice bar to allow purchases without the member needing cash in their pocket. This can also be done as a charge to the member account and added to their monthly EFT.

6. Go green.

Make all forms electronic and accessible from the member’s record within the club management software. Have in-house sign up’s easy and doable from any type of device. Remove the clutter of storing paper and reduce time searching for past documentation.

7. Rate adjustment.

Is a rate increase due, or is it a better selling tool to say no rate increase needed because new members have continued to come in and easily offset the cancelled members? If costs have been incurred due to a rise of the minimum wage, payroll and expenses, insurance, utilities, etc., it could be time to increase by $1 to $5 per month, per member. Or consider making this only applicable to new members and grandfather existing.
