COVID-19 Closes all GoodLife Fitness Locations
Share on FacebookShare on LinkedIn

All GoodLife and Fit4Less locations across Canada will be closing until further notice to help protect members and associates from the threat of COVID-19, effective immediately.

This decision was based on guidance from public health experts. GoodLife and Fit4Less clubs will reopen when it is safe to do so, based on direction from local authorities.

David ‘Patch’ Patchell-Evans, the founder and CEO of GoodLife Fitness, said this was not an easy decision, but the focus is on the health of both their members and employees.

“This is an unprecedented situation for our communities that requires a decisive and proactive response, and we know this is the right thing to do,” explained Patch. “GoodLife has served and supported our members and associates for more than 40 years, and we’re committed to finding new ways to do so during this challenging time.”

All GoodLife member payments are being suspended as of Tuesday, March 17, and any paid-in-full memberships will be frozen until further notice. Expiry dates will be extended accordingly.

Employees will be temporarily laid off while operations are closed, but GoodLife has committed to paying all associates for two weeks to help lessen the financial burden. GoodLife and Fit4Less look forward to welcoming back all employees when normal operations resume.

“Our purpose has always been to give every Canadian the opportunity to live a fit and healthy life,” said Patch. “There is no moment in our history where that purpose is more important than today. Like other businesses across the country, we are closing our doors to further limit the spread of this virus and to protect the most vulnerable in our community. It is the right thing to do.”
