Genesis Health Clubs has purchased all three Maximus Fitness & Wellness clubs in Topeka, Kansas. As a result, Genesis now has 18 locations — 15 in Kansas and three in Missouri.

The owner of Maximus Fitness, Scott Huston, will join Genesis Health Clubs as regional manager of the three Topeka locations. Genesis plans to renovate the newly-acquired clubs to bring them up to the design standards and branding that Genesis is known for.

“We have been planning to move into the Topeka market for several years, since we have clubs in neighboring cities of Lawrence and Salina,” said Rodney Steven II, the owner of Genesis Health Clubs. “The acquisition allows us to come into well-established clubs, and give us an opportunity to bring their facilities to a new level with renovations and the remodels we have planned. Genesis acquired two other Maximus locations several years ago in 2011, in Lawrence and Leavenworth, Kansas, and that was a very positive move for us also.”

According to Steven II, it’s the company’s plan to continue expanding into new markets. In addition, “I’m excited to have added five locations already this year and I’m looking forward to bringing our brand into those locations as we have several renovations in process already,” he said.

Steven explained that Genesis Health Clubs has a unique opportunity to help members with their health and fitness goals due to one key quality: “People, people, people,” he said. “Our staff is what sets us apart — we are a family committed to each other’s success. Our members, without them we aren’t here. We know this and that is what drives us everyday. Our focus is on not only getting them results, but making sure they are and feel part of the family.”
